Have you ever wondered what happens after death? Many people have experienced Near-Death Experiences (NDEs) and describe their experiences in vivid detail. These experiences offer a glimpse of the afterlife and provide insights into what happens beyond the physical world.
NDEs are characterized by a wide range of experiences, and many people describe experiences of heaven and hell. These experiences offer unique insights into the afterlife that have been studied by medical doctors, neuroscientists, and psychologists.
Heavenly Experiences
Heavenly NDEs have three distinct characteristics:
1. Freedom from Physical Limitations
People who have had an NDE maintain their bodily powers, such as seeing and hearing, but are free from physical constraints. They report the ability to move through walls, ascend upward, and move beyond the physical domain. Christian teachings suggest that resurrected Jesus had these freedoms in his glorified body and that our own bodies will be similarly transformed at the resurrection.
2. Transcendence
Many NDE accounts describe a dimension of beauty, joy, and paradise- ultimate fulfillment, as well as Christian revelation about the Kingdom of Heaven.
3. Love
Love is central in the Kingdom of God. NDE patients describe overwhelming love as their dominant experience in the realm of light. Patients often come into contact with a loving white light, and some patients are greeted by deceased family members who they do not recognize because the deceased family member died before the patient was even born.
